A study to find out the best possible options for waste disposal in four islands of the country is presently in progress, Environment Research Center has reported.

ERC has reported that the preliminary study is currently in progress and would be completed by the end of next month. The study would cover Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi, Noonu Holhudhoo, Fuvah Mulah and Seenu Hithadhoo.

The Center also reported that the main objective of the study was to find out the possibilities of producing alternative energy through waste disposals in these islands. The Center says that the findings are positive and that a trial of the possible options will take place once the study is completed.

Reports say that this project is not focused to be implemented in some islands. However, if the project is deemed successful, then it would be expanded to all possible islands. The project aims to introduce environmentally friendly technologies for disposing waste in the islands.
