Lhaviyani Atoll Hospital has reported that MMR vaccination program organized by Department of Public Health is presently underway in the atoll. The program in Lhaviyani Atoll was launched on August 29.
Children from 18 months to 6 years are being vaccinated under this program and the program was first launched as part of the World Health Day official activities in the country.
The program in Lhaviyani Atoll is organized in the Atoll Hospital and those registered in the hospital or anyone going the hospital for receiving the service could get it for free of charge.
Hinnavaru will be the next island to start the program and during this week, children of Maafilaafushi and Olhuvelifushi will receive the vaccine. Children from Kuredhdhoo will receive vaccine on September 8, according to reports.
MMR has now been included in the national immunization schedule and will be provided as other vaccines provided for children for vaccine preventable diseases.
