Electricity development going on in Maafaru

South Miladhun madulu dekunuburee Maafaru office has said that electricity development is going on in the island under the ADB Tsunami Emergency assistance project.

The island office said work of building the generator house had been completed including roofing, plastering the walls, silencer chimney, building all walls while they current works include wiring electricity and laying pipelines for water and fixing the ceiling.

Static Company Private Limited is the contractor of this project which started on 7 November 2006. Island office says work is expected to be completed by the due date which is 3 May 2008.
The island office further informed that this project is financed by the ADB and the Maldivian Government while the consultants of this project are from ADB. The new generator house built in the island would be to modern standards.

Electricity is provided in Maafaru 24 Hours by the island community, but the island is facing difficulties in view of shortage of generators and a good network to provide electricity to 173 houses.
