Report: Soodh

India has ruled out any connection of Maldives in the bomb explosions in Hyderabad on Saturday. India's High Commissioner A K Pandey has told a news conference in Male' the news report which appeared in some Indian papers stating Maldives being used as a hub for transporting terrorists to South Asian region is false. Pandey said these reports which have blamed Maldives do not contain any truth and he condemned this false allegation.

High Commissioner Pandey said Maldives is a peace-loving and law-abiding nation and this is a fact recognised by the international community. He further said these false reports in some Indian papers have nothing to do with the Indian Government and the information has not come from Indian intelligence.

"There is no fear of terrorists intruding to India through Maldives" the Envoy said responding to the news reports which said Maldives is being used for sending terrorists to south India. Mr. Pandey further said that Maldivians living and travelling to India are not facing difficulties in India because of this incident, but they may be going through extra security measures which are applied to people from all countries.

The news reports linking Maldives as a terrorist hub to enter India was referring to Indian intelligence and Indian TV channels and newspapers covered this story extensively. The story further said India's southern region has become a target of terrorists and Maldives is the most convenient point through which Pakistani militants can enter India. The report said there are convenient connections from the Maldives for Pakistanis to travel to India.

The Indian envoy said these news will not affect the excellent relations existing between India and Maldives.
