The President has said that, with the Grace of the Almighty Allah, the year 2010 would be a golden year for tourism in the Maldives. He made the statement in a function held this afternoon at Nasandhura Palace Hotel to present the annual Presidential Awards for the tourism industry.

In his speech, the President highlighted that 44 new Islands have been earmarked for tourism as part of the policy of expanding tourism to all Atolls of the country. He stated that the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation estimates that tourism will be introduced to all the Atolls of Maldives within the next 3 years. The President noted that the opening of new resorts would generate more employment opportunities for Maldivians and that he envisaged that the year 2010 to be the golden year for the people of the Maldives.

The President also stressed the importance of maintaining peace and social harmony in the country and the link between socio economic stability of the country and the tourism industry.

The President also called the protection of the country’s pristine natural environment for long-term sustainable development of tourism in the Maldives. In this regard, the President appealed to all stakeholders of the tourism industry to pay special attention to environmental protection.

At today’s function, the President presented the 2005 and 2006 Occupancy Awards, the 2006 Green Resort Award and the 2006 Human Resource Development Award to their respective recipients.

Occupancy Awards went to Mirihi Island Resort, Veligan’du Island Resort, Angaagaa Island Resort and Spa, Reethi Beach Resort, En’boodhoo Village and Kuredhdhoo Island Resort. The winner of the Green Resort Award for 2006 was Banyan Tree Maldives and the winner of the Human Resource Development Award for 2006 was Hilton Maldives and Spa.

Speaking at the function, the Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Dr. Mahmood Shauqee outlined the rapid development of the tourism industry and highlighted the importance of recognizing the service of employees who work in the industry. He thanked the President for his efforts in shaping the rapid development of tourism in the Maldives.

Mr. Carston Shiek, General Manager of Hilton Maldives Resort and Spa at Rangili Island spoke on behalf of the recipients of Awards at today’s function.

މާތްﷲގެ ވާގިފުޅާއެކު، 2010 ވަނަ އަހަރު ވާނީ ރާއްޖޭގެ ފަތުރުވެރިކަމުގެ ރަން އަހަރަކަށް ކަމުގައި ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ އަލްއުސްތާޛު މައުމޫން ޢަބްދުލްޤައްޔޫމް ވިދާޅުވެއްޖެއެވެ. ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ މިހެން ވިދާޅުވީ، ރާއްޖޭގެ ފަތުރުވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާއަށް އެމަނިކުފާނު ހުށަހަޅުއްވާފައިވާ އިނާމުތައް ދެއްވުމަށް، މިއަދު މެންދުރު ނަސަންދުރަ ޕެލަސް ހޮޓެލްގައި ބޭއްވެވި ރަސްމިއްޔާތުގައި ވާހަކަފުޅު ދައްކަވަމުންނެވެ.

މުޅި ރާއްޖެއަށް ފަތުރުވެރިކަން ފުޅާކުރެއްވުމުގެ ސިޔާސަތުގެ ދަށުން އިތުރު 44 ރަށެއް މިހާރުވަނީ ފަތުރުވެރިކަމަށް ދޫކުރައްވާފައި ކަމަށާއި، ކުރިއަށް އޮތް ތިން އަހަރު ދުވަހުގެ ތެރޭގައި، މުޅި ރާއްޖޭގެ ހުރިހާ އަތޮޅަކަށް ފަތުރުވެރިކަން ތަޢާރުފު ކުރެއްވޭނެ ކަމަށް މިނިސްޓްރީ އޮފް ޓޫރިޒަމުން މިހާރު ލަފާކުރައްވާ ކަމަށް ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ވިދާޅުވިއެވެ. އެހެންވީމާ، މިރިޒޯޓުތައް ހުޅުވުމުން، ރާއްޖޭގެ ވަރަށްގިނަ ބަޔަކަށް ވަޒީފާ ލިބި، އެންމެންގެ ތަނަވަސްކަން އިތުރުވެގެންދާނެ ކަމަށާއި، މިގޮތުން 2010 އަހަރުވާނީ، މާތްﷲގެ ވާގިފުޅާއެކު ރާއްޖޭގެ ފަތުރުވެރިކަމުގެ ރަން އަހަރަކަށް ކަމުގައި ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ވިދާޅުވިއެވެ.

ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާގެ ވާހަކަފުޅުގައި، ރާއްޖޭގައި މިއޮތް އަމަންއަމާންކަމާއި ޞުލްޙަމަސަލަސްކަމާއި ސިޔާސީ ހަމަޖެހުން ދެމެހެއްޓުމަށް މިއަދު ވަރަށްބޮޑު ސަމާލުކަމެއް ދޭން ޖެހިފައިވާ ކަމުގައިވެސް ވިދާޅުވިއެވެ. އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ތެރޭގައި މިއޮތް އަމަންއަމާންކަމާއި ޞުލްޙަމަސަލަސްކަމާއި، ސިޔާސީ ހަމަޖެހުމަށް އެއްވެސް ސިފައެއްގައި، ބުރުލެއް އެރިޔަދީގެން ނުވާނެ ކަމަށާއި، އެހެން ވެއްޖެނަމަ، އެއީ މުޅި ޤައުމަށް ކުރެވޭ ވަރަށްބޮޑު އަނިޔާއަކަށްނުވެ ނުދާނެ ކަމުގައި ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ވިދާޅުވިއެވެ. އަދި އޭގެ ސަބަބުން އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ފަތުރުވެރިކަމަށް އަސަރު ފޯރައި، އަޅުގަނޑުމެން މިއުޅޭ ތަނަވަސް ދިރިއުޅުން އެހެން ގޮތަކަށް ބަދަލުވެގެން ހިނގައިދާނެ ކަމުގައި ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ވިދާޅުވިއެވެ.

ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާގެ ވާހަކަފުޅުގައި، ރާއްޖޭގެ ފަތުރުވެރިކަމުގެ ޞިނާޢަތު، ދެމެހެއްޓެނިވި ޞިނާޢަތަކަށް ހެދޭނީ، ރާއްޖޭގައި ފަތުރުވެރިންނަށް ދެވޭ ޚިދްމަތްތަކުގެ ފެންވަރު މަތިކޮށްގެން، އަދި ރާއްޖޭގެ ތިމާވެށި ޙިމާޔަތް ކުރުމަށް ސަމާލުކަންދީގެން ކަމުގައި ވިދާޅުވިއެވެ. އެހެންކަމުން، ރާއްޖޭގެ ފަތުރުވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާގައި ޙަރަކާތްތެރިވެވަޑައިގަންނަވާ ފަރާތްތަކުން މިކަންކަމަށް ވަރަށްބޮޑު ސަމާލުކަމެއް ދެއްވުމަކީ ވަރަށް ބޮޑަށް އެދިވަޑައިގަންނަވާ ކަމެއް ކަމުގައި ވިދާޅުވިއެވެ. މިރޮނގުން ވާހަކަފުޅު ދައްކަވަމުން، ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ހުށަހަޅުއްވާފައިވާ ފެހި ރިޒޯޓު އިނާމަށް ކުރިމަތިލާ ފަރާތްތަކުގެ އަދަދު މަދުކަން ފާހަގަކުރައްވަމުން، ރާއްޖޭގެ ވީހާގިނަ ރިޒޯޓުތަކަކުން މި އިނާމަށް ކުރިމަތިލެއްވުމަށް އިލްތިމާސް ކުރެއްވިއެވެ.

2005 ވަނަ އަހަރާއި 2006 ވަނަ އަހަރު އެކި ގިންތިތަކުން އެނދުގެ އަދަދު އެންމެ ގިނައިން ފުރައިގެން އިނާމު ޙާޞިލުކުރީ، މިރިހި އައިލެންޑް ރިޒޯޓާއި، ވެލިގަނޑު އައިލެންޑް ރިޒޯޓާއި، އަންގާގާ އައިލެންޑް ރިޒޯޓް އެންޑް ސްޕާއާއި، ރީތި ބީޗް ރިޒޯޓާއި، އެނބޫދޫ ވިލެޖާއި، ކުރެއްދޫ އައިލެންޑް ރިޒޯޓެވެ. ފެހި ރިޒޯޓުގެ އިނާމު ޙާޞިލުކުރީ ބެނިޔަން ޓްރީ މޯލްޑިވްސެވެ. އިންސާނީ ވަސީލަތް ތަރައްޤީ ކުރުމުގެ ރޮނގުން އިނާމު ޙާޞިލު ކުރީ، ހިލްޓަން މޯލްޑިވްސް އެންޑް ސްޕާއެވެ. މިރިޒޯޓުތަކަށް އިނާމުތައް ދެއްވީ، ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ އަލްއުސްތާޛު މައުމޫން ޢަބްދުލްޤައްޔޫމެވެ.

މިނިސްޓަރ އޮފް ޓޫރިޒަމް އެންޑް ސިވިލްއޭވިއޭޝަން ޑޮކްޓަރ މަޙްމޫދު ޝައުޤީ މިރަސްމިއްޔާތުގައި ދެއްކެވި ވާހަކަފުޅުގައި، ރާއްޖޭގެ ފަތުރުވެރިކަމުގެ ޞިނާޢަތު މިއަދު ދެކެމުންދާ ހަލުވި ކުރިއެރުންތަކުގެ މައްޗަށް ބައްލަވާލެއްވިއެވެ. އަދި މި ޞިނާޢަތު ބިނާކުރުމުގައި ރިޒޯޓުތަކުގައި މަސައްކަތްކުރާ މުވައްޒަފުން، އެކުރާ މަސައްކަތް ވަޒަން ކުރަން ޖެހޭނެ ކަމުގައި ވިދާޅުވެ، ފަތުރުވެރިކަމުގެ ދާއިރާގައި ދިގު މުއްދަތެއްގައި އެކަށީގެންވާ ޚިދްމަތްތައް އެކުރާ ޚިދްމަތް ފާހަގަކުރައްވަން ގަސްދު ކުރައްވާކަން ހާމަކުރެއްވިއެވެ. ޑޮކްޓަރ ޝައުޤީގެ ވާހަކަފުޅުގައި، ރާއްޖޭގެ ފަތުރުވެރިކަން ބައްޓަން ކުރެއްވުމަށް ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާ ކުރައްވަމުން ގެންދަވާ ބުރަ މަސައްކަތްޕުޅުތަކަށްޓަކައި އެމަނިކުފާނު ޝުކުރު އަދާކުރެއްވިއެވެ.

އިނާމު ޙާޞިލުކުރި ރިޒޯޓު ހޮޓާތަކުގެ ފަރާތުން މިރަސްމިއްޔާތުގައި ވާހަކަ ދެއްކެވީ، ހިލްޓަން މޯލްޑިވްސް ރިޒޯޓް އެންޑް ސްޕާ އެޓް ރަންގަލި އައިލެންޑްގެ ޖެނެރަލް މެނޭޖަރ މިސްޓަރ ކާރސްޓަން ޝީކެވެ.
