Tourism Minister’s car set on fire

Three successive fires have been set in Male’ on Sunday night. One of the fires was set on a government car utilized by the minister of tourism, say police.

The fires according to police were set within less than an hour in the early hours of Sunday. The first of them was set on jerry cans stored in the block behind Imadudeen School, a primary school, at 2:30 am. The second fire was set on the first floor of the ministry of health at 2:43.

The third fire attack was launched on minister of tourism Mahmood Shaugy’s car which was at the time, 3:25 am, parked in his garage at his residence, M. A. Light Corner. The fire damaged the car to unusable extents, say police.

The fires were extinguished by the fire fighting unit of Maldives National Defence Force. No one was injured in the fires the police claim were acts of unidentified arsonists.
