Report: Soodh

As part of the referendum held on Saturday, voters who had cast their votes in two ballot boxes placed in Hithadhoo, Addu Atoll, have voted again yesterday.

Voters cast their ballots yesterday into two boxes in Hithadhoo following a decision of the eleven-member overseeing committee of the constitutional assembly which has declared that breaches had taken place on Saturday at boxes 4 and 5.

The committee believes that officials at ballot boxes number four and five in Hithadhoo have been negligent on the first day of voting.

The committee noted that the officials failed to completely fill a form after sealing one of the ballot boxes. The committee also found that the votes cast have not tallied with the partly filled form.

The provisional result for the ballot boxes show that presidential is ahead of parliamentary system of government with 539 votes in favor and 49 against.

The new totals for the forms of government are: parliamentary 57158 votes and presidential 93581 votes.
