Report: Soodh
Ministry of home affairs has urged the nation to maintain peace and calm.
The ministry believes that hostile elements have begun a campaign of destabilization of peace and security following the announcement of provisional results of the referendum held on August 18.
In a press statement the ministry headed by former agriculture minister Kamaludeen said “The violence that followed the referendum has been marked with attacks on persons and properties”.
The ministry also called for the assistance of the general public in its effort to restore peace and calm.
“The ministry of home affairs requests the beloved citizens of the country to deviate from hostility and aggression and to resort to perseverance and peace in a spirit of national unity in solving problems.” ended the statement.
Recently there have been reports of fires burning homes and buildings being destroyed.
However there have so far been no fatalities following the end of polling on August 18.
