President Gayoom has sent messages of felicitations to the Indian President Prathiba Patil, and to the country’s Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, on the joyous occasion of India’s Independence Day.
According to President’s Office, Gayoom conveyed warm greetings and sincere good wishes to the leaders, the Government and the people of India on the occasion.
He also expressed his confidence that the traditional ties of friendship and cooperation that existed between the Maldives and India would further strengthen in the years ahead.
9. Man found dead in hotel room
The Maldives Police Services says that a foreigner’s dead body has been found in a room of Hulhule Island Hotel.
The man’s dead body was found in the room at 10 am, Wednesday.
“The man was an Indian who visited Maldives to promote products of his Dubai company” a police officer told Miadhu.
The forty six year old Indian, Konkaru Nittin Anand Chandrakant, entered Maldives on August 10.
The anonymous police officer told Miadhu that the dead body of Chandrakant had no injury marks.
