Maldivian Democratic Party, MDP President Dr. Mohamed Munawwar is in Addu Atoll to promote parliamentary system of government and to rally support for the system. MDP has launched a mass campaign to rally support for a parliamentary system in the upcoming public referendum.

MDP is the only political party advocating a parliamentary system while all other political parties are promoting and campaigning for a presidential system.

On Thursday MDP President visited Maradhoo Island in Addu Atoll and informed the people about the advantages of a parliamentary system and the reasons behind the party’s official support for such a system.

Campaigning for the public referendum is in its full-swing in the past few weeks and the next few days remaining would decide the future system of government in the Maldives.

Polls conducted by online websites show that there is a very little margin of difference and still there are many people who have not decided on to which system they shall cast their vote.
